What Causes Drop In Iron Levels After Starting Iron Infusions?

Thank you, I have been having iron infusions for the last 3 yrs. and wishing I could find a reason for the iron dropping down as low as 3 all within 3 months after infusion. Are there any other answers to keeping my iron at a normal rate......my age is 69 ......and now I am finding it very hard to accept the iron in my system. I have resorted to cutting the iron in half at a time and by dividing the amount in half for the first time I am not feeling so ill (3weeks when full amount is administrated at one time)......consequently feeling better after half of the latest infusion...... I am very dizzy and weak and tired of course .....it is hard to have a life . Three years seems to be a long time with no answers. Any suggestions.

you may be losing blood from somewhere. please do a stool examination for occult blood and if positive, you need an endoscopy and colonoscopy.
