What Causes Drainage Of Green Liquid From Breasts?
I have two children and I breastfed both.. After my second child I kept producing milk. After about a yr it turned clear, then back to white back to clear and it did that for 6 yrs for the past 9 months its now a dark green discharge no odor and thick? I went to the Dr and they ran blood test and samples from my breast and it was all normal my Dr ordered me a mamogram but since I m not 40 they wouldn t approve it. I m only 31..... Any ideas??
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.
The green liquid coming out from the breasts is suggestive for mastitis (infection of breasts).
I advise to run ultrasound of breast and axillary adnexes to see if there are possible changes. If unusual changes are noted, then, mamogram is a must although your actual young age.
You can discuss with your caring doctor to start a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Measuring prolactine and a complete hormonal balance is also recommended.
Hope it was of help! Dr.Albana
