Hello Doctor: I had my right ear syringed for wax yesterday, it began to feel uncomfortable/hurt a little and I felt a bit dizzy, so the nurse stopped the procedure. She said she d managed to get quite a lot of the wax out, but not all of it - she recommended I continue with olive oil drops for another week, then we can try again. She says the residual wax is close to my eardrum. I m concerned that the second procedure may cause ear damage. I have had syringing done before a few years ago, and it didn t feel like that last time. My hearing has improved since yesterday and there is no sign of infection at the moment. Should I consult my doctor first and have her look at my ear before going ahead? I am aware of the risks of syringing. Just to let you know, I have had low-grade tinnitus for some years - I had an audiology consult when it presented originally, it doesn t bother me generally.
