What Causes Discomfort In The Lungs After Smoking?

I used to smoke frequently and I have been trying to quit because a strange problem had developed where it feels like mucus is trapped in my lung and I cannot cough it or hack it up. Now its more irritated and occasionally I feel like Im forcing this out of my lung as I breath but it only produces crackling, bubbling noises with no relief only putting the mucus closer up my chest toward ny throat and It feels as if Im not sick at all and have to force a cough to feel some relief. Im 18 have been smoking since I was 13 and tried drinking lemon water, cough medicine, and only get little relief. Im wondering what this could be whether its just damage fron smoking which I shouod stop or somethibg maybe serious needicing medical attention?

Hi,
Can understand your concern,...
As per your query about discomfort in lungs after smoking can be due to emphysema which is commonly seen in smokers..Toxic compounds after burning of nicotine are released which irritates the lining of respiratory tract and reach lungs bronchioles and alveoli....Complications can include shortness of breath even at rest, climbing stairs, choking etc
I suggest you to quit smoking so that there is no further damage to lungs and its mucosa and consult a pulmonologist or even a general physician for examination of chest ,an chest xray will be required and medication s accordingly.
I hope this information helps you.
Take care.
