What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Liquids?
for seven weeks i have not been able to swallow liquids well...i'm dying for a glass of water, but can only drink liquids that are a slushy type consistency. I can eat most foods, but have trouble swallowing mashed potatoes, puddings, and foods of that consistency. For the first ten minutes after I wake up I am able to drink liquids..but from then on it's a downward slide thruout the rest of the day. I had a barium swallow that showed nothing. I go in for an endoscopy the end of this month. This is driving me over the edge. Could it be anxiety? What other tests can I have done? Thank you!

Appreciate your query, I had gone through the history given here, I could say that there can be several reasons for the swallowing difficulty, if barium swallow is unremarkable then it does not mean that it is not the illness, if this the neurological disorders then it may not show anything in barium.
I would suggest to rule out all the possibilities before it said to be due to anxiety or depression, till then I would suggest to try Tab Omeprazole 40mg with Domperidone 20 mg once in day, the dose needs to be taken at evening time and continue it for at least three months, because it could be the GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease )
