What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Food?

I have trouble swallowing sometimes and cough up my food or it s painful swallowing. I also wake up sometimes during the night choking and unable to breath. I also have a lump at the bottom of my neck in front and I have had chest pain. Any idea why this is happening? It s getting worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
understand your concern
Your symptoms are suggestive of thyroid enlargement or tonsil enlargement
Thyroid swelling cause pressure on the esophagus and cause difficulty in the swallowing.
I would suggest to consult the ENT specialist as early as possible and undergo USG scan and Biopsy of lump if needed to rule out the cause.
Specific treatment will depend on the cause.
Take more fluids to drink.
Hope this may help you
