What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing After Taking Doxycycline?

I had a reaction to doxycycline capsule I was taking for a sinus infection. I went to bed too soon after taking one of the capsules and the next morning I couldn t swallow, and experienced spasms when I did try to eat even soft foods as it passed through the lower part of my esophagus into my stomach. That was 2 months ago and I am still experiencing problems with a mild pain in that area of my chest. It hurts a bit to take a deep breath even still, and I can really feel the discomfort at night when I am laying down. How long will this take to heal? I am eating a diet for gerd at this point to prevent further issues or discomfort.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Doxycycline will not affect you this long. It is your gastric problem. Take antacids and syrup. Avoid spicy foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anusuya Ramesh
