What Causes Difficulty In Sleeping After Receiving Botox Injection?

I have received Botox injections this week from a Pysiatrist/Neurologist. This is my second treatment to relieve the considerable spasticity in my left arm and hand following a stroke last March. I am having trouble sleeping, when I do I sleep about 12 hours. Is this a side effect? It s new to me.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to HealthCareMagic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

Botox does not cause any sleep disorders for long initially it can.. but later than 2..3 days its usually a drug which doctor has started you on. Usually doctor give pain killers in such condition and these pain killers usually have some sedative effects in them and causes long sleep hours and sedation in the patient.

You too might have been started on a pain killer like opioid or gabapentin which is causing these effects. if this continues for a while, do talk to your neurologist about that.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.

Regards.
