What Causes Difficulty In Breathing?

Hello, Perhaps you might be so kind to settle a bet. Here are the symptoms: 8 weeks ago, pins & needles sensations in left extremities. Fairly consistent throughout 5 days, although low grade. Most currently, difficulty breathing, constant; short shallow breaths after a minimum of phusical exertion (stairs); purple/violet color under fingernails at the cuticle area, not the front, pretty constant fever, hacking cough, quite difficutl to find a comfortable position for sleep. As close as possible to verticle is required. Your choices: A - some kind of pleuritic condition (although no pain when inhaling; none) B - a series of mini strokes 8 weeks ago making the distribution of oxygen difficult, or C - Thoracic Outlet syndrome, or, last, D - LPR syndrome. Many thanks!

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you should first consult cardiologist and get done
1. ECG
2. 2d echo to rule out cardiac cause for your symptoms.
If both are negative then get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection and PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.
So consult cardiologist and pulmonologist and first diagnose yourself, then start appropriate treatment.
