Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi- my three year old son was acting sick at dinnertime. He didn t eat much. He felt slightly warm. He has has diarrhea here and there the last couple days. I just took his temperature now before bed and it is 102.3. Should I be concerned, and/or anything I should be on the lookout for in terms of him getting worse?
I am sorry for the health problems your 3 year old son is going through.
Diarrhea, associated with high temperature are signs of acute gastroenteritis. I advise to keep him well hydrated: - encourage to drink plain water with oral rehydration salts - give tasectan for diarrhea - give probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora - encourage to have only light meal (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast, yogurt) until fully recovered. - give anti-pyretics to lower his high temperature
If no improvement, pediatrician to consult further and stool examination and culture to run for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
Wish fast recovery.
