I am having a root canal tomorrow morning my tooth was so badly infected my dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg . All was going good, my tooth eased up so I ate some beans with hot sauce, lots of hot sauce. One day later, my tooth felt like it was on fire. The next day I started having diarrhea I mean really bad diarrhea projectile diarrhea I have been doing this now for this is the third day and my root canal is in the morning . If I don't eat anything it doesn't seem to act up so I went to the store today to buy some Pepto-Bismol and look this up this medication which said diarrhea could be the main cause plus I'm under a lot of stress from my kids and 70 years old and I don't know what to do whether I should cancel my appointment I really want this tooth out because I am in So muc pain
Pain in tooth can have severe bouts of pain until the treatment is appropriately done and as you are given antibiotic Clindamycin for it. It can very much cause diarrhea that can be a side effect of antibiotic intake. Antibiotics can cause disturbance in the good bacteria present in the intestines and can cause disturbance in the proper fix of intestines leading to diarrhea.
So to control diarrhea you should take Loperamide and also Pantoprazole. You should also take more of probiotics like yogurt. As far as tooth is concerned you should not get it extracted and root canal treatment can appropriately help in saving the tooth and relieving pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
