Hello and welcome to HCM,
Fever with barking sound like cough is suggestive of infection of lower
respiratory tract.
In addition, your observed that tonsils are also enlarged and inflamed.
Antibiotic is definitely indicated in this condition, however, a pro-biotic should also been added to prevent
diarrhea as side effect.
In addition, the
mucolytic is also prescribed rightly as it will clear the secretions collected in the respiratory tract.
With the onset of diarrhea, the antibiotic has to be stopped immediately which your doctor has already stopped.
Domperidon will halt the diarrhea and ORS solution will compensate the water and electrolyte losses which have occured due to diarrhea.
Development of rash could also be due to side effect of antibiotic.
Dry cough if still persisting required a cough suppresant which is different from antibiotic.
I suggest you to see your
pediatrician for clinical assessment of the rash and prescription of cough suppressant.
Thanks and take care
