I have had a history of graves disease. I took methimazole for 4 1/2 to treat it and became pregnant and it went into remission. I am now 9 months postpartum and am beginning to have some symptoms. My tsh is out of whack but my t3 and t4 are still within normal ranges. Is this graves slowly coming back or is something else possibly going on? thanks! Hi, The two main differentials in your case are subclinical hyperthyroidism either due to Grave's disease or Postpartum thyroiditis. The two can be easily differentiated by doing a thyroid scan which would show increased uptake in Graves and decrease uptake in Postpartum thyroiditis. For symtom control its best to take propranalol 40 mg twice daily until the diagnosis is confirmed followed by a close followup of TSH and free T4. Regards
