What Causes Depression, Mood Swings, Fatigue And Headaches After Nexplanon Implant?

I recently had my birth control implant, Nexplanon, removed after having it for only 3 months due to the awful symptoms I had. I became very depressed, moody, snappy at my boyfriend, fatigued, I experienced head aches, and I also did not have a regular period- I had spotting almost every single day but no actual flow. I had it removed 2 weeks and 2 days ago and I am starting to experience symptoms of very upset stomach (indigestion maybe?), constant hunger pains even just after a meal, head aches, and sometimes dizziness. Are my symptoms normal? Will they go away, and if so, when? I do not believe I am pregnant because the last 2 times I was I experienced extreme breast tenderness, which I am not feeling at all and my boyfriend and I have been using condoms since the removal. Are these symptoms I am feeling related to the removal of the Nexplanon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I can understand your concern about the side effects due to birth control implant.
All the symptoms you have mentioned in your description are related to side effects caused due to implant.
These side effects occur due to hormonal imbalance. Once the implant is removed, your symptoms should reduce in about a week to ten days as the hormone levels might take sometime to reach back to normal. In case it persists, you need to seek medical attention immediately.
Hope the information provided is clear.
Wish you good health and early recovery.
