What Causes Delayed Periods?

I'm on Qlaira contraceptive pill for contraceptive use and to ease my period pains. My boyfriend and I use condoms often but not always, but we use the withdrawal method every time we have unprotected sex and the condoms haven't broken. I take my pills at roughly the same time everyday, sometimes I take it late though, like 3 hours late. I'm supposed to have my period for 3 or 4 days now but I haven't had anything, not even spotting. I've been on qlaira for a few months now but not more than 6 months I suppose. What could be the problem? Is there a chance the egg was fertilized?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

As you are on REGULAR contraceptive pill for last few months, then possibility of your pregnancy is QUITE LESS.

However, I suggest to undergo one home pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. Mental stress, emotional upset, hormonal imbalance can delay your regular period.

Following negative test, you can wait for 1 week to get natural period. Kindly, consult with doctor if you don't get period even after 1 week.

Good luck.
