What Causes Delayed Periods While Suffering From PCOS?

Hi. I am suffering from PCOS and is trying to conceive. So my doctor prescribed duphaston and estradiol valerate twice a day for 30 days. I am taking the medication, now I am also not having period. I did my home pregnancy test one day after the missed period date and it came negative. My breasts and nipples are also aching. Now pls tell me why period is not happening as I am not pregnant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
it is due to the hormonal replacement therapy the patient is getting for pcos which is also a treatment for pcos. It caused higher levels of estrogen and progesterone in blood stream which negatively inhibits the mechanism for periods. Solution is that the hormonal therapy should be stopped for some days, say about 7 days which will cause withdrawal bleeding and hence menatraution.
