What Causes Delayed Periods While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi Doc,I took my first pill last August 10, 3 days after the last day of my period. My husband and I had unprotected sex last August 20. I forgot to take one pill one night and took it the next morning then had another pill at night but we didnt have sex since August 20. My last pill was August 30. Until now, September 6, I havent got my period yet. Is there a big posibility that im pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Do not worry
Your period will come in next 2-3 days.
Occasional delayed period by 2-3 days should not be concerned
Birth control pill is very effective in preventing the pregnancy.
It has just 0.25 % percent failure rate after regular use.
You have missed one pian and taken on the next morning does not affect the effectiveness.
Avoid stress, as stress itself cause delay in period.
If period will delay by the 7-8 days then you have to think about the pregnancy.
Take healthy diet and do regualr exercise
Hope this may help you
