What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Abdominal Cramps While On Birth Control Pills?

My wife has been on birth control pills for almost two years, but due to some nausea on the first one we had to change it to a different pill recently (a little over two months ago). On the first month of this new one we had no contact at all, and on the second we waited until the second week. When the time for her period came she got cramps for a few days, but the bleeding never happened! She never missed a pill. We are a little freaked out. How likely is it to be a pregnancy? How long should we wait to take a pregnancy test? What should we do?

Hello sir,welcome to HCM. If for the whole month if you dint had contact . Then there is no issue of pregnancy. Due to disturbance in the hormonal levels period may delay for one or two days after the stoppage of tablets.then start taking the next month tablets after 5 days gap. On the other hand if you are doubtful , chances of contact was there, then you can get one UPT test on the missed day of period. Use early morning mid stream urine for testing.If it is negative try after 5 days. If its slight positive / positive don't continue tablets. Get a scan for confirmation. Then meet gynaec . All the Best.
