What Causes Delayed Period And Negative Pregnancy Test?

I am 6 days late on my period and I have taken 2 HPT one on the day I was supposed to get my period and one on day 5 late both said negative. On day 5 I also had a blood test done and it was also negative. Could I still be pregnant? Is it just to soon to tell? What should I do next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Firstly, have you always been regular? Secondly, did you have unprotected sexual intercourse recently? These are important questions, which you need to discuss with a doctor. As I do not have answers to this, my answer will be very generic.

Wait for a while longer, some women can take upto 8-12 weeks even, to return a positive result to pregnancy tests. Go about a healthy regimen and do not do all that is contraindicated dueing pregnancy. If your period does not come even after a month or 2, then report to your doctor for an ultrasound examination and repeat blood test.

Best wishes.
