I went travelling for 3 months and was taking utovlan 3 times a day every day prescribed by my doctor. I ve been home 2 weeks and haven t had my period? I have had sex in this 3 months regulary with my boyfriend.I have the contraceptive implant. Could I be pregnant or is this my body taking time to get back to normal.
Utovlan contains norethisterone which is a progestational medicine. Progesterone is known to minimize the amount of bleeding during menses. Also Utovlan has a side effect of causing irregularities in menstruation. of Utovlan can at times cause cessation of menses.
If fact, you are having contraceptive implant also. So you are well protected against pregnancy. However, considering 2 months amenorrhoea, you should get your urine pregnancy test done for any evidence of pregnancy.
If you are not pregnant, please report to the Gynaecologist for this prolonged amenorrhoea. It is likely that due to prolonged use of Progesterone only, the uterine lining could have become very thin to get discharged. In such case, oestrogen priming of the uterine lining will grow the uterus to have normal menstrual bleeding. Ultrasonography may give you some clue about this.
