What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Negative Pregnancy Test?

Hi, I missed out my periods, i checked in home pregnancy kit it showed negative. doctor sugessted to take meprate for 5days. Its been 10days over after my conception of tablets , i didnt get my periods. IS it normal? am i pregnant? or any other problems relating this. Please suggest
