Hallow Dear,

Folic acid is a type of vitamin pill which helps cell growth and rejuvenation of the tissues. It does not affect the regularity of menstruation. Delay in your period cannot be attributed to Folic acid.

Since your pregnancy test is reporting negative results even after almost a week of delayed period, the chances of pregnancy are almost nil. Still you may repeat pregnancy test again after 4 days on overnight morning first urine sample to confirm the diagnosis.

If this test also reveals that you are not pregnant, delay in your menses could be due to incidental hormonal imbalance. You may then take some progestational preparation like Deviry for 5 days, by consultation of your Gynaecologist only. Within 4-7 days after discontinuing these pills, you should get withdrawal bleeding.

If the same pattern of delaying menses repeats in future also, please report to your Gynaecologist for further investigations of hormonal imbalance.

I hope this helps you today.
