What Causes Delay In Menstruation?

Dear Doctor, I had unprotected sex last month twice and had two dose of postinor 2. My period was due in first week of october but did not get it till now (18.10).i did pregnancy test thrice but all cam out negative. im feeling bit worried. is this a side effect of postinor? what step should i be taking next. please help.

Thanks for writing to us.

You did two times unprotected sex and took Postinor 2 pill (two doses). It has effectiveness 90-99% depends on taking time after intercourse (within 72 hrs).

Late period occurs due to effect of the pill, causing hormonal imbalance associated with mental stress. It is quite common side effect.

I suggest to await for another 1 week to get your next coming period as you got all NEGATIVE pregnancy test.

If you don't get your period within this time, you must consult with local doctor to induce period by progesterone pill.

Be stress free and take healthy diet, sound sleep. Good luck.
