What Causes Delay In Menstrual Cycle When Having Thyroid?

Hi dr. I am a 28 year old girl. I did my blood tests last month and my thyroid was 31. now, this month my periods are delayed for 10 days. i tested pregnancy at home twice which came to be negative. Is the delay due to my thyroid??? I have also taken an MT Pill today @ 10 pm. How much time does it take to effect??

Hi,
As you are hypothyroid, your menstrual cycle may have disturbances unless the deficiency is corrected. Moreover, you have taken the MT pill without any diagnosis of pregnancy or medical supervision and this is not advisable. So, I suggest that you get help immediately from a specialist and get the necessary management. You would need thyroid supplementation, a trans-vaginal sonogram and a blood test for pregnancy after a complete clinical evaluation to see what can be done. Hope this helps.
