What Causes Delay In Menstrual Bleeding After Taking Norethindrone?
I took Norethindrone for 1 week and 4 days. I stopped on February 15 and my cycle was due to come on March 1st but it has not. I have taken 3 pregnancy test the last one taken was this past Saturday and all 3 have been negative. How long will it be before I get my period again?
So you have not had a period for more than half a year (March - October)? If this is the case, then you should consult with your physician. Norethindrone is a progestin and can cause some irregularity of periods for 1-2 months after stopping it. But it would not be expected to stop it for half a year. If you have been under a lot of physical or emotional stress, that can interfere with ovulation and regular cycles. Your doctor will take a history and may give you about a weeks worth of daily progestin such as Provera. After completing it, in a day or two your period will likely come, if you are naturally making enough estrogen. If not, then your doctor may request blood work for endocrine related tests.
