What Causes Dark Stools With Pink Mucous What Causes Dark Stools With Pink Mucous?

I have been smoking regularly several times per week over the last year. Over the last year my stools have changed dramatically. They are much darker, harder (even though I drink 80 oz water per day), smaller and filled with slimy pink mucous. I do not strain to defecate because my rectum is so slimy my bm comes right out. Sometimes after a BM, inside the toilet looks like massive tissue shedding . I have no other symptoms except on and off RUQ pain, my gallbladder was removed in 2009. abdominal US was normal. stool cultures were normal. CDI and WBC normal. I cannot connect this mucous to any particular foods and I have no nausea or vomitin. I am very concerned due to the amount of mucous increasing...ALOT. mucous is on and in every stool now.

I really appreciate your concern, such color of stool may be due to some diet changes if there is no other associated symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, then this may not be infection, this is nothing to worry, just wait for sometime if the symptoms remains as it is then stool need to be examined, but most of the time this would be fine soon, hope this information helps, take care.
