What Causes Dark Spot On Upper Eyelid?

I went to sleep fine. However, when I woke up I had a dark spot on my left upper eyelid, in the corner near my nose. The dark spot is less than a square inch in area. I am a 49 year old woman. I recently had a major blood test and was told everything was fine. What may be causing this? Menopause or something more sinister?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having a dark spot on the upper eyelid. This can be a spot of ecchymosis indicating collection of blood under the layer of skin of eyelid.
The commonest cause for it is usually minor injury or trauma. It is also seen in systemic conditions like uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, bleeding and clotting disorders.
Since you have undergone blood tests and all tests are normal no need to worry and it can be because of minor injury. It will resolve by 1-2 weeks as the blood gets absorbed. Applying cold compression provides symptomatic relief.

Thank you
