What Causes Dark Brown Spots On Hands?

There are dark brown splotched on my hands. One in-between my index finger and thumb (with a bit on my thumb as well), and on my other hand its on the top of my pinky and the side of my ring finger. It doesn't hurt, nor is it raised. It showed up overnight because it wasn't there yesterday. It kind of resembles brown paint smeared, but i haven't used any paint in a long time. Should i get it checked out or scrub my hands (tried that and nothing happened), or just leave it alone?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

I have gone through your query .The brown patches appeared on your hand are most probably due sun burn known as frekles .Which occur due to over production of melanin pigment by melanocytes triggered by sun exposure.

I would suggest you to use sunscreen with SPF 30 ,use teritnoin cream containing retinoids at night before going to bed.If you started using any new product on your skin immediately stop its use.

If condition doesn't resolve or get worse consult dermatologist for preper examination to rule out the other conditions like ecchymosis,insect bite or allergy due to new product used by you and get that condition treated properly.Doctor may recommend procedure like laser therapy or chemical peel.
