What Causes Cyclic Vomiting After Undergoing Pulmonary Embolism?

Desperately need help for my sister. She is 43 years old, diabetic and has been vomiting since May of last year. She has been in and out of hospitals including Vanderbuilt and no one can tell us what is wrong. She becomes severely dehydrated and has lost around 70 lbs. She has had scopes, scans and blood work and still nothing. Finally, she was told she has Cyclic Vomiting. She is nearly on deaths door and we are scared she will die. In January she had a pulminory embolism that blocked the artery. Vanderbuilt specialists told us that she should never have survived. They will give her different medications to stop the vomiting for intermittent periods but it always begins again within a month or a little longer. She wakes with the vomiting one morning and then it does not stop until she is hospitalized...days of dry heaving. What other possible explanations could there be?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, such vomiting without any pathology may be due to some functional condition and in my opinion it is advisable to see the psychiatrist because this is the option remained now, condition may not be serious with proper care and moral support she would be fine soon, take care.
I find this answer helpful
