What Causes Craving For Chalk And Headaches After Donating Blood?
Hi, I am 26 years old. I have 3 kids, and had my tubes tied 7 months ago. I donated blood about 2 weeks ago and about 30you minutes later felt very dizzy and would see everything turning black like if I was was going to faint for 2 days. Ever since then I crave chalk, baby powder and dirt. I also get really bad headaches that last 2 days about 2- 3 times a week.I also have abdominal pain on my right side and sometimes on my left. Can you please help me figure what s wrong with me.
Hello, Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Care Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern and the anguish that you are having.
It seems that you are dehydrated or may have anemia. This can happen in females who have given blood and when their iron stores are not enough. I think you can start by drinking a lot of water and also get your Hemoglobin levels checked. If the levels are normal, then you should be ok. Treatment will most likely be with Iron Syrup like orofer
The next possible thing is a abdominal issue. It is possible that you have a late post op reaction. If the pain persists, do see your surgeon.
Do not take any medications yet for the headache. Try to sleep it off and you can wait for 2 to 3 days to see if it helps. Hope this helps you. Feel free to clarify further. Dr Vignan
