What Causes Cramping In Leg After Having Kenalog Injections?

In have been getting Kenalog injections in my fingers, under the nail skin and from the tip down to... I don t look! I ve had maybe 5 sessions of injections, maybe 6 since January spaced about 3 weeks apart. I now have raging cramps in my legs nightly... no calcium, magnesium, vitamin E is working... though (I m not crazy for sure), someone suggested on line putting some soap like Ivory in a sock and pin it to the sheet about where my calf is when I sleep... it does work, but it s insane. What else can I do, I can t carry a sock with soap into the future with me... I want it gone, not medicated or soapicated. thank you

hello mam/ sir, the problem you are facing is a normal side effect of long term use of steroid injections. Kenalog usually decreases calcium absorption from intestine and increases calcium excretion from kidney and also promote calcium loss indirectly due to decreased formation and increased resorption creating a negative calcium balance which is usually not visible in serum examinations which you have already gone through. i suggest you to once have vitamin D test too. if it comes out to be borderline please start taking vitamin d supplements to enhance what ever calcium can be absorbed orally and also start taking calcium and magnesium for at least a month to have better results. Cramps normally result if you are lacking calcium or magnesium or vitamin d even if the test result suggest everything is normal. you can go for bone scan too to come to know how is calcium in your bones.
hope you find this information effective. thank you
