What Causes Cough With A Clear Sputum Test?
I am 67 women a smoker I have had this cough day and night for 5 weeks.no blood.no weight loss.eating ok.i went to the doctor she said my oxygen level was fine sounded my back said that was fine seeing as I was a smoker she sent me for a sputum test that came back clear the stuff I cough up is yellow ish this is concerning me what can it be

This could be a viral lung infection if the culture didn't grow any bacteria but it still could be bacterial as in pneumonia and you need a chest x-ray to check for that since you may then need a course of antibiotics
