What Causes Cough, Metallic Taste In Mouth And Wheezing?
So today i jogged 800 meters during PE. I started to gasp for air during the run and kind of tasted this weird metal smell.after wards, i started to wheeze when i breathe out air or when i laugh. I had lots of mucus and coughs for hours. This usually does not happen when i exercise should i be worried? I dont smoke and i dont have any respiratory issues thnx
Wheezing is caused due to broncho-constriction (obstruction of smaller airway passages) which is indicative of Hyper-responsiveness of air passages (seasonal allergy or asthma).
Management consists of: 1. Inhaler (containing a short acting bronchodilator & cortico steroid) - provide symptomatic relief by causing broncho-dilation, relieving the obstruction & increasing airflow to lungs. 2. Montelukast preparations- used as a maintenance therapy to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies & asthma. 3. Antihistamines can also be used to provide symptomatic relief. 4. Protection from exposure to cold, dust or other allergens.
Investigations like X ray of the chest and PFT (pulmonary function test) will be helpful in detecting any pathology in the respiratory tract & lungs
So, kindly consult your Physician/ Pulmonologist and start treatment as advised.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
