What Causes Cough And Throat Infection?

I have been coughing and it sounds like it is down in my chest. My throat has yellowish stuff on both sides. It did not start out like my usual colds with a sore throat and sneezing. I don t usually have yellowish stuff in my throat either. I took a chest congestion syrup but it hasn t done anything. Do you think I should go to the doctor? or what do you suggest I try next?

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
A cough is a common cold symptom. It's the body's way of getting rid of phlegm or mucus.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Drink fluids every one to two hours
-Rest
-Don't smoke
-Relieve body aches by taking aspirin or acetaminophen
-eat healthy
-Don't allow others to smoke in your home.
-Stay away from or reduce your time around things that irritate your nose, throat, and lungs, such as dust or pets.
-Wash your hands often.
-Do not share food, cups, glasses.
-take on farmacy expectorant to help loosen mucus
