What Causes Cough And Nasal Congestion Despite Giving Kofarest And Gudcef-DS?

Dear Dr Santosh Kondekar, My 7 month old daughter is suffering from cough and running nose. Pediatrician suggested Koforest -PD followed by Gudcef-DS for a period of 5 days. There is still no signs of relief from cough and cold. My daughter is still coughing and having cold. Please advise. Thank You, Raghu

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of cough and nasal congestion despite giving Kofarest and Gudcef-DS which seems to be due to rhinitis medicamentosa or common cold. It seems to be due to respiratory tract infection as well. Need not to worry about it. You should go for steam inhalation on daily basis along with nasal vaporizers. You should put xylomist nasal drops to prevent congestion. You should take chicken soup along with along with lemon tea. Take diet rich in vitamin C. For stuffiness over palate maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily. Rinse with antiseptic mouth wash as well. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment as per diagnosis. Take combination of Sinarest along with Levocetrizine. Take decongestant nasal sprays containing mucinex for instant relief.
