What Causes Constipation?

I only poop once every two months and when i do very little stool is evacuated. I have a bunch of other symptoms as well and I have seen many doctors, but nothing seems to help. I have tried changing my diet many times, laxatives, stool softeners, etc. Is it possible this is a problem for an endocrinologist?

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
Constipation causes first of all are dietary so diet low in fiber, drink a small quantity of water , the other cause is lack of physical activity; medicine like diuretics, antacids etc; endocrinology problem like hypothyroidism and diabetes.
To exclude the endocrinology problem you should do TSH, T3 and T4 blood level test to determine if you have or not hypothyroidism and fasting blood glucose and 2 hours after meal blood glucose to determine if have or not diabetes.
To avoid the constipation problem you should choose a healthy lifestyle like beginning or increasing the level of physical activity, doing minimally 30 minutes of brisk walking every day, choosing a high fiber diet and drinking minimally 8 glass of water every day.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
