What Causes Constant Smoke Smell To The Nose?

For the past two days I keep smelling something that smells like smoke - although there isn t any smoke anywhere near me. I have noticed it at the theater (thought it was another patron), in my car (thought it was exhaust) and now in my office. Is there something that causes that?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have constant smoke smell to the nose which is due to phantosmia i.e disturbance in olfactory sensations. It could be due to infection of sinus also known as sinusitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor will take history or may order CT scan , blood test and nasal endoscopy.

Do nasal saline rinses and maintain hygiene. Start proper course of antibiotics along with decongestants and anti inflammatory medications after proper prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
