What Causes Constant Pain Behind Eyeball After Treating Staph Infection?

I had a severe staph infection behind the right eyebrow ending behind the crease of eyelid. After 3 months of antibiotics and a 4 day stay at the hospital, they pronounced me cured. The bump behind the skin had disappeared, leaving only redness and concaved site on the skin of my eyelid where the infection sat. Now, 6 months later, I have constant pain above and behind the eye(ball). It started as only when I lay on my back and progressed to pain when I dart my eye to look up, down and sideways. If I dart quickly an extreme pain of stabbing sensations bloom inside what I feel like is the optic nerve, behind all of eyeball and on top of it as well. My doc sent me to the same eye doctor that supervised my case in the hospital. All the eye doctor did was to do an eye exam (vision test,(read letters on the wall), and look at eye with same machine used to figure out the prescription strength of lens for glasses. I was concerned after only being prescribed optic antibiotic drops for 4 days which didn't work. Now my eye even hurts when not mobile. What do I do? It hurts to read, be in sunlight and sleep in bed.

staphylococcus infection is very resistant and difficult to treat. your feeling of pain in optic nerve is imaginary. and anxiety related. the doctor rightly did complete eye examination antibiotic drop in-his opinion is required. things are going in right direction. refraction has been done to check the power requirement. if not satisfied then can go for second opinion.
