What Causes Constant Metallic Taste In The Mouth Along With Nausea?

I have had a strong foul or metallic taste in my mouth for about 2 weeks. Went to the dentist today, they couldn t really tell me if it is an infection or not. X rays looked fine. What could cause this. I have felt nauseous at times however my anxiety is certainly worried.

hello and welcome to healthcare magic,
Thank you for writing to us,

After reading through your query, I would like you to know that Metallic taste in mouth can be from several reasons, one of them being a common side effect of medications.
Are you currently taking any medicines?
Are you currently suffering from upper respiratory tract infection( sinusitis)?

Kindly try to find answer to these questions and if you feel none of the reasons is the cause then I would advise you to kindly visit your family doctor.

Sometimes , Gum diseases(Gingivitis/periodontitis) may lead to bleeding of gums which otherwise can leave a foul, metallic taste behind. But as your Dentist did not specify any significant findings in your x-rays, we can rule out this as a cause.

I hope I was able to provide you with an acceptable answer for your query,
Feel free to write back to us if you have any further questions.

I wish you good health,
regards,
Dr. Anshika Taneja
