Brief answer: Additional examination is required Detailed answer: If your pain is in the middle of your abdomen under the rib cage, you should check for gastritis or peptic ulcer especially if your have suffered before from this. If your pain is under the rib cage i right side of the abdomen, liver and gallbladder should be evaluated for stones or inflammation. I recommend you to go through an abdominal ultrasound to visualize your liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, and spleen. Talk with your doctor if he find any result that explain your symptoms.
