What Causes Coldness And Shivering In Hands At Old Age?

My mother (86) was at our house on boxing day. She became violently sick, shivering but her hands were really cold. We called non emergency help but were told we had to wait up to 6 hrs for a doctor. An ambulance came round and took her to hospital but she is still there and we don t get any advice from the hospital. She has had a scan and it could be a possible bowel infection with complications i.e ulcer but they don t give us any advice. She has been told every day that she could possibly come out but we get no further. We just need to know if there could be any other problems that they are not telling us about. Can you please advice? Many thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It depends upon whether she has recovered from the primary symptoms, shivering, cold hands, etc.
If she is conscious and continuing with fever, there is no problem she will recover soon.
If she is unconscious and not responding, she may need extensive treatment . There could be invasion of the brain causing the meningitis.
Don't worry typhoid fevers may have ulcers of intestine, but will have recovery.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
