What Causes Cluster Headaches?

This past Saturday evening I had this sudden headache I never experienced. I went to the E R. They did a CT scan and didn t find nothing. They said I was having a cluster headache. I was giving oxygen for 15 minutes and ibuprofen and released. I still feel dopy, but not as bad . I had heart surgery 4 by-pass about a year ago. Should I get a second opinion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Cluster headaches usually occur at same time after regular period.Headache can also be migraine in your case.
However,as per your history, you have faced just one episode of headache that was relieved on taking ibuprofen .
But if headache occurs repeatedly, may be on one side or both side of your head,it will be needed to put you on drugs like aspirin low dose, acetaminophen or narcotic analgesics to be taken under supervision .
Also neurological examinations will be necessary if needed.
As you also have heart disease and the risk of cardiovascular problems is more in migraine and vice versa,It will also helpful to keep all the other associated medical conditions under control.
Healthy lifestyle and avoid smoking are must.
Thanks and regards.
