What Causes Chronic Sickness And Stomach Discomfort When Waking Up?

Good morning,

I've always felt sickness and stomach discomfort when waking up in the early morning, is that a symptom of any disorder and/or is there a way to prevent it? I have been diagnosed with hiatus hernia and gallstones, but felt this since childhood. Somehow thought it was normal to feel like this when younger.

Hello,
With your history of hiatal hernia, it could be related to lying flat and having acid reflux during the night that you wake up with issues. Consider sleeping on 3-4 pillows or propping head up, also take an anti acid medication. If you are overweight consider losing weight as this helps reduce intra abdominal pressure and symptoms similar to the hiatal hernia. if that does not help , consider getting your gallbladder removed as it could contribute to symptoms.
