What Causes Chronic Pain In Upper Back?

Having back issues. I can feel my spine when I move, rubbing or creaking. Hard to explain but been going on for a couple years. Now I am starting to have a lot of pain in upper back. Not sure what kind of specialist to consult with first. Chiropractor or Orthopedic?
