What Causes Chronic Epigastric Pain?

I have been dealing with chronic epigastric pain for several years. I have had a complete GI work up in the past which was unrevealing and have had both my appendix and gallbladder out. I took hydrocodone for almost 2 years which helped tremendously but have been off it for a year now and don t want to take it again due to potential for addiction. Any ideas? I m desperate.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since your all gastrointestinal reports are normal, no need to worry for major Gastrointestinal diseases.
Possibility of gastritis due to hydrocodone is more.
So follow these steps for better symptomatic relief in gastritis.
1. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
2. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid junk food.
3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
4. Take pantoprazole tablet on empty stomach twice daily.
5. Quit smoking and alcohol if you are having these habits.
6. Go for walking after meals.
7. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in the bed.
8. Don't take hydrocodone any more
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these lifestyle modifications.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
