What Causes Chronic Cough?

i have been suffering on and off for 3 months a terrible ggging cough !! it feels like water running down right side of throat !! i have had a nasal spray anti acid tabs and i am now on antibiotics !!! i am still concerned it could be more serious ???

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should first consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT ( Pulmonary Function Test ).
Chronic cough not responding to antibiotics can be due to bronchitis.
So we need to rule out this first.
And PFT is needed not only to diagnose but also for knowing severity of bronchitis. And treatment is based on severity only. So PFT is necessary.
Another possibility is chronic lung infection like TB or fungal infection. As routine antibiotics will not work on it.
So chest x ray is needed to rule out these.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
