What Causes Chronic Cough With Phlegm?

Hi, My mum is 65 years old and she has been suffering from mucus cough. Each and every day she eats lots and lots of medicines but nothing works. She has been suffering from last 6 years. She went to lots and lots of different doctors but no one could tell her about the problem. Day and night she coughs and has really bad mucus. So please could you tell me something about it. What kind of disease it is? And is it cureable? Please reply me as soon as possible. I will be very thankful to you.

Please get a allergy test done for your mom.It will be helpful if the allergen is identified and the treatment for the allergy can be decided accordingly .
