What Causes Chronic Cough , Runny Nose And Dizziness?

My husband is coughing so hard his nose keepa bleeding and he is getting really dizzy a nd light-headed. We thought he caught a cold. He has been sick now for 4-5 days. I believe his symptoms are getting worse and worse. He is not a man to visit a doctor. I am wondering if his symptoms are worthy of a visit. All symptoms include: non-productive aggesstive coughing. Runny-ish nose. Cold chills. Sore throat. Nosebleeds when coughing fits occur. Dizzy/light headed/feeling of going to pass out. Very fatigued. Body pain.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic cough , runny nose and dizziness which is due to upper respiratory infection due to poor immunity of your body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take cough expectorants. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take throat soothing agents. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest x-ray done along with pulmonary function tests done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
