What Causes Chest Pain?

I am a 64 year old female. Last Sunday evening I was rushed to the ER with crushing chest pain. Nitro did not help. The hospital admitted me and ran cadiac tests. Stress test, nuclear heart test,EKG,blood work all normal. I was told that this episode may have been caused by an esophageal spasm. I do not have a history of Gerd. The only meds I take are synthroid and estrace. However, I do take 1000 mg of calcium w/ D daily. Do you thin the calcium suppliment could have played a part in this painful experience?

First of all congratulations that your cardiac profile is good.and yes, high calcium suplement causes increased acid secretion from stomach causing spasm of esophagus and burning sensation and chest pain.also presence of excess calcium in your body is causing unnecessary muscle contraction leading to muscle spasm.hope you and your clinician will take a look in this matter so that this will not happen in future.
