I am a 69 yr. old female who went to the hospital with light headedness, weakness, rapid deep breathing, a hollow feeling in my chest, and very mild chest pain. I have experienced this pain off and on for least 50 yrs. and it can usually be relieved with deep breathing exercises. My EKG was normal, but three hour after arrival my troponin levels became elevated. (.66) My heart rate was mildly elevated but stable (97) and my systolic pressure was normal, (125) but diastolic pressure was a bit high. (92) They did an angiogram the next day, which came back as having clear arteries. So what happened? Could I have had a panic attack that was bad enough to elevate the troponin? My primary think it was probably a panic attack as I have been quite stress the last few months.
